How To: Create a VRI Direct Desktop Shortcut That Auto-fills Your Username

You can create a desktop shortcut that opens directly to the VRI Direct login page with your username already populated in the Username field:

  1. Log out of VRI Direct and close all browser windows
  2. Copy and paste the following link into a text editor and then edit the text:
    1. If you use a custom login page:
      https://mycompany.vridirect.com/login?email=myemailaddress
(replace "mycompany.vridirect.com" with the URL used by your company; replace "myemailaddress" with the address you use to log in)
    2. If you use VRI Direct's primary login page:
      https://vridirect.com/login?email=myemailaddress
(replace "myemailaddress" with the address you use to log in)
  3. Highlight and copy your edited link.
  4. Open the Web browser you usually use for VRI Direct.
  5. Paste the edited link into the address bar and press the "Enter" key on your keyboard—you should now see your login page with your e-mail address filled out in the first field.
  6. With your mouse, create the desktop shortcut by grabbing the small VRI Direct icon on the left end of the browser's address bar (the icon should be just to the left of the URL near the top of the browser) and dragging that icon to your desktop.
  7. Double-check that the desktop shortcut works by closing your browser, then double-clicking your newly-created desktop shortcut.
